FOR WHOM
Wind players at work in the church
You are a (very) experienced amateur, conservatory student or music teacher. You have wide experience with chamber music. You are willing to prepare chamber music and orchestral parts at home. As a pianist, you are able to play solo parts.
Tonny Visser: 'I like the luxury of having passionate musicians around all the time. There is no need to tire yourself trying to plan dates. You just start playing or singing. For me, La Pellegrina has become the perfect basis for a rich musical life!'
The music
Chamber music

concentration...
The mornings are dedicated to chamber music. It is possible to play
in formations from trios onwards, with or without piano. Each participant
will play in two different chamber music ensembles. There is always
intensive coaching thanks to the relatively large number of tutors.
As La Pellegrina will let everybody know in which
ensemble they are going to play well before the start of the course,
participants are expected to prepare their parts at home. The course
is open to individual participants as well as existing ensembles.
Besides there will be two large ensembles 'pre-formed' by La Pellegrina, which will work on the Serenade for Strings in C major op. 48 by Pjotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and on 'Le Gay Paris' (1974) for flute, two oboes, two clarinets, bassoon, double bassoon, two horns and trumpet by Jean Françaix.
Wout van den Heuvel and Joke van Raalte: 'Knowing what exactly you are going to play in the course enables you to really let the music play when in Bechyně. It adds to the fun.'
Orchestral programme
The orchestra will rehearse in the riding school of the castle in the afternoons. We are proud to present this year's programme:
- Smetana, Overture Hubička (the Kiss)
- Bruch, Romance for viola and orchestra (soloist: Zbyněk Paďourek)
- Beethoven, Triple Concerto op. 56 for violin, cello, piano and orchestra, 1st movement (soloists: Pavel Hůla, Václav Bernášek and Arnošt Střížek)
- Dvořák, 8th Symphony in G major
- Suk, V nový život (Towards a new life, encore)
Pianists and others not participating in the orchestra may study extra chamber music as the orchestra is rehearsing. The number of participants in this course is mainly determined by the size of the orchestra: there is room for 'double woodwinds', two trumpets, four horns, timpani and percussion, plus a well-balanced string division and six pianists. Pianists normally play the percussion parts in the orchestra.
Anke Wolffes: 'The orchestral rehearsals were lovely. Dirkjan has managed once again to be ambitious, motivating, and relaxed at the same time.'
